The Application:

Each server rooms were protected by two and three CCTV color surveillance cameras, one twin level programmable temperature sensors, and one passive infra red motion sensors. Additional power sensor providing alarms in case of mains loss was added per room. The receiver stations were installed at two operators Laptops to be notified wherever their location was utilizing LAN or WAN depending whether they are inside the university or outside. A verbal dialler was provided to give preliminary voice notification in case of any alarm occurring over their mobile sets.

The Scenario:

When an alarm event occurred from any of the sensors, a verbal message is relayed to the mobile sets of the operators, the CCTV server starts recording the video from cameras, the operators login using LAN or WAN to the CCTV server to view the status inside the server rooms. Visual verification of the room provide visual identification of the room temperature via reading the LCD display of the temperature sensors, server visual examination, UPS status and any motion inside the room. The system also provides automatic LAN notification to the third operator located inside the university with one message per alarm sequence to quickly identify which of the alarm devices initiated the event. The entire event is recorded and logged unto the server for later retrieval.
